Why are people so shocked that idea of socialism is introduced by certain politicians, as a means to move in a different direction than that of the free market of capitalism? People are frustrated, especially once word gets out of some of the programs, money, and aid distribution, to certain groups or countries that they feel are not worthy of our tax money. We Americans work hard and for all of our work, we don’t take home exactly what our employers pay us, as of course we all have to pay taxes depending on how much we make. We can only hope that the powers at be, use that tax money for the most essential tasks needed to run the country. We also hope that Congress decides responsibly that the tax money spent, will benefit all Americans, and to give us all a better quality of life. So, what are the most important things that you would put on the list of where all of our tax money should be spent? It is when the populace starts to believe that the members of Congress are not prioritizing properly where our tax money should be spent, or if the populace feels that they have no say in any of the decisions once their political representative is elected to office, is when they start looking at alternatives to the current system. Should all Americans expect free medical care, which many feel is the most important issue to them, staying healthy and preventing an early death, or how about a free college or trade school education, to set them up for a prosperous future for themselves and their family? How about investing more in neighborhoods with recreation centers and sports activities, to keep our youth entertained, to prevent them from boredom, which can lead to criminal or violent activity? How about spending more of our tax money on building up the police forces, jails, and prisons, to keep up with population growth, so offenders don’t get pushed out early due to over population? It is when the American populace hears of Congress taking our tax money and then spending millions and billions of dollars on none of the important items listed above and instead spends the money on more of what benefits the individual politicians more, that other ideas like socialism rears its ugly head. It is time for Congress to take the citizens of this country seriously and really understand what we feel is important in our lives, and what we really wish our hard-earned taxed money is spent on. Use our tax money wisely on what is truly important to us, and we won’t have that burden of fighting off even more government control with regards to the idea of socialism.
