Blue and Red

Completely unnecessary. Our two favorite colors and they can’t even get along. Like two children in a sand box fighting over one toy instead of sharing. Also, the idea of having your mascots that represent your parties, come from a cartoonist in Harpers Weekly, which is an elephant for the republicans and the donkey for the democrats. Aside from that, when we separate ourselves by mascots, the colors red and blue, and having different views on government, economic policies, and social values, it’s no wonder the children will fight instead of valuing the positive differences, as well as the positive similarities that define who we are as Americans. We know from the outset that we are different in our views. That’s the way it should be, and that’s what make our system of government so unique and special. We surely don’t want a one-party system, as that would give us a dictator, and having multiple parties would only muddle any chance of building a consensus, and getting anything done. When listening to the politicians in each party attack each other personally instead of sticking to the issue at hand, it draws us into the fight and makes us an extension of them while leading us to blindly agree with them simply because we chose this particular party, this particular color. Let’s take the issue of abortion for example. The Blue party believes that what it comes down to is who has the ultimate authority on whether a women can choose an abortion or not. The government, and nine justices at that, or the women. That’s it. There is nothing else. The Blue Party has come to the conclusion that the women win on this question. The Red Party believes that it is a sin to kill an innocent human being and makes no distinction between a human in the womb or outside the womb and it goes against their religious beliefs. That’s it. There is nothing else. Now to be fair, not everyone in the Blue Party is prochoice and not everyone in the Red Party is prolife. There is also the belief that rape and incest are exceptions to the rule, and that there also appears to be an irresponsible sexual behavior lifestyle with both men and women, who latch on to having the opportunity of an abortion when the women become pregnant by mistake. No matter what the political or social issue that comes between the two colors, one should simply lay down their facts, their opinions, and their beliefs, and simply let the votes fall where they may. There is no need for personal or physical attacks and no need for anger or hatred towards each other for having different points of view. All of the laws, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, will always come down to the vote, and the majority votes win. Whether by the public vote, or the votes of the judges. We must respect each other’s different ways of thinking and use our intelligence and our skills of persuasion to win those votes, without attacking each other both verbally and physically. It is completely unnecessary. Instead of fighting over one toy in the sand box, let’s simply put in another toy for the two children to play with equally, and we can even paint them Blue and Red.
