First of all, it’s not about picking sides. Once you choose one side, you have lost all angles to solving the conflict. If you want to confront and find a resolution to conflict, you cannot do it with shame and blame. You must find solutions to conflict through a shared desire, and with an understanding that the past history will not lend a hand in finding the solution. You must start from today moving into the future. Yesterday is gone, but today you can change tomorrow. You must learn to calm down and have an open mind since there are two parties involved and listen. Listen. With the continued conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians that has its roots in who legitimately belongs and who legitimately owns the land that they both occupy, trying to find out who started the conflict is a fruitless endeavor. Anyone who starts talking about the nuts and bolts of the history, is not only going to twist the story into a hot mess but will also twist your mind into one as well. Walk away from any such person(s). The goal for those who truly seek it, should be to find the solution to the conflict and nothing more, and the only way to even begin such a journey is to throw away all of the history and all of the discussions of blame, and to not look backwards in time. Nothing else exists. I believe there are those that know this, but they will never agree to throw away the past, as the past will keep them from having to succumb to the idea of having to share, and having to live among each other. Attacking Jews on the campuses of college universities, or anywhere else for that matter, is not going to solve the equation that you are wrestling with. These students are not in the Middle East; they are here in America and have little or no influence on foreign policy in the Middle East. Your anger and hatred towards them have caused a dense fog in your logic, your reason, and your understanding of how to go about achieving your goal of solving or finding a solution to your conflict regarding the Jews. If you think strategy, wouldn’t a better approach for the college students who are angry and frustrated over the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians, would be to go up to the Jewish students and engage them in conversation on what is going on over in the Middle East, and give a point of view or opinion to convince the Jewish students to see your side of the equation? If the argument is so strong, maybe the Jewish student would look at the conflict differently and then take that conversation and that point of view to other family members or others in the Jewish community, who might have some influence with the Israeli government. That seems like a better approach then to scream and threaten the Jewish students. Maybe also, the non-Jewish students might learn something they were unaware of or didn’t think about with regards to the other sides point of view. When we attack people with anger and hatred, you only give validation, ammunition to others that you are unreasonable, unstable, and that you cannot be trusted to have a valid point of view, because it is grounded in hate. In America we are blessed to have freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the freedom to criticize others that we disagree with. If you want to help, bring change to the conflicted areas of the Middle East, you will never prevail by violently attacking those that you believe are in the wrong. You can only prevail with those that you disagree with or have a severe conflict with, by using your words and your wisdom. That is the righteous way, and the intelligent way of conquering your conflict, not by attacking the Jews on campus.
