Unified Cultural Induction (UCI)

The countries of the world that allow for people from all over the world, to migrate or immigrate to their country, in order to begin a better life for themselves and their families, should indoctrinate the newcomers to learn the culture of their new home in order to properly assimilate and to become absorbed into the new land that they chose to live. Sometimes new arrivals look to embrace their new country by learning all of the culture, traditions, and customs, that the new country offers, and some new arrivals do not. One would obviously ask, “why would someone leave their homeland and immigrate to a new country, but not want to assimilate into the new society”? The reason is that the people that are re-locating to the new country are adults that are already stuck in their culture and stuck in their ways of living. They might isolate themselves due to feeling uncomfortable with the new environment, or they might isolate themselves due to feeling unwelcome by the native population. They can also isolate themselves because they seek to keep themselves separate from the dominate culture, and seek to build their own communities, in order to maintain the culture, they had from their country of origin. This first generation of people will obviously pass down to their children all of the history, traditions, customs, religion, and culture from their homeland, hoping to keep the traditions and culture in place. The way to assimilate the new arrivals, is not by introducing the new countries culture, but by introducing the new countries culture through the children of the second generation. The adults were drawn to this new land for a reason, and even though they will try to isolate their children from assimilating into the new society, the children will absorb the new culture, and new freedoms that come from the country their parents left their homeland for. You cannot hide and keep your children from the world; the world will come to them no matter what. So, what the new society should seek to do is, implement a “Unified Cultural Induction,” (UCI) to the communities of where the new immigrant populations live. This “UCI,” would be to educate and highlight the great aspects of the country’s fabric, the countries traditions, and the countries freedoms and culture, and doing so in a welcoming way. We must showcase the freedoms that democracies bring to the people of their new land. This could be done by advertising on billboards, leaflets, TV commercials and news programs, radio spots, and school campuses. The goal is to target the second generation of the immigrants, in order to let them compare the new freedoms that they can now enjoy, compared the lack of freedoms that were afforded to their parents from the countries and cultures that they left behind. In time, the children of immigrant s will assimilate and become part of the quilt that makes up the dominate and native culture. we cannot always expect people to assimilate on their own, and we must assure them that there should be no mistrust between the native communities and the communities of the new immigrants, while we introduce them to the unified culture. Through their children, we will help create the unity of one that we all desire and all hope to achieve.
